Businesses need talent that bridges the skills gap between traditional software engineering and modern generative AI applications. To meet this regional workforce need, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is launching a new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwgb.edu\/software-engineering\/\">Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Designed in consultation with northeast Wisconsin industry leaders, UW-Green Bay\u2019s graduates of the program will be adept at integrating traditional software engineering and modern AI applications, giving students a unique opportunity while making them highly sought after in the job market. Industries from healthcare and finance to manufacturing and logistics will benefit from an increased local pool of knowledgeable software engineering professionals.<\/p>\n<p>Software professional jobs are projected to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/ooh\/computer-and-information-technology\/software-developers.htm\">grow by 25%<\/a>\u00a0from 2022 to 2032, and degrees in computing are also among the highest earning career paths, with an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/2025\/04\/24\/is-college-degree-worth-it-graduate-income\/83216369007\/\">18% annual return on investment.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cUW-Green Bay\u2019s new Software Engineering program is a launchpad for students to become creators, innovators and leaders in a rapidly evolving tech landscape. The program immerses students at the forefront of technology, analyzing problems to create solutions that don\u2019t exist yet,\u201d said UW-Green Bay Associate Professor Golam Mushih Tanimul Ahsan. \u201cThrough collaboration and discovery, students evolve with the ever-changing curriculum, ensuring the program remains relevant to the region\u2019s workforce needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program is rooted in hands-on learning and access to regional tech professionals. Students gain expertise in software design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance\u2014with a special emphasis on integrating generative AI and other emerging technologies. Industry partnerships, including innovators like Titletown Tech, will provide students with advanced field projects and capstone experiences that mirror the challenges of today\u2019s tech-driven industries.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast to online software engineering programs, UW-Green Bay\u2019s new degree track emphasizes teamwork, mentorship and real-time feedback\u2014mirroring the collaborative nature of the industry. The curriculum teaches students to be nimble and adaptable to evolve throughout their careers.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are now open.
