These agreements reflect a shared commitment to student success and regional workforce development.

“We are excited about these new options for our students,” said FVTC President Dr. Chris Matheny. “These pathways provide a clear route for students to continue their education, save money and enter the workforce with the skills our region needs.”

Under the new Criminal Justice pathway, students earning associate degrees in Criminal Justice, Asset Protection, Forensic Science, or Legal Studies/Paralegal at FVTC can seamlessly transfer into UW–Green Bay’s newly launched Criminal Justice major. Students will gain junior status upon transfer, saving thousands in tuition costs and accelerating their path to graduation.

Starting in Fall 2026, students in FVTC’s Human Resources, Business Management, Marketing, or Supply Chain Management programs will be able to transfer directly into UW–Green Bay’s bachelor’s programs in Management, Marketing, Business Administration (Supply Chain emphasis), or Human Resources Management.

“This progress honors the great education that is happening at the technical colleges in our region and breaks down barriers for students who want to continue their education,” said UW–Green Bay Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Kate Burns. “UW–Green Bay is proud to strengthen our partnership with FVTC — our second-largest transfer partner and a vital contributor to the region’s talent ecosystem. This fall, 298 FVTC students are enrolled at UW–Green Bay. It’s all about access, opportunity, and helping students reach their full potential.”

This is great news for Divinia Cosio. Currently in the Legal Studies program at FVTC, her goal is to pursue a bachelor’s degree, then law school, with the ultimate goal of practicing criminal law.

“I love that this is now an option,” Divinia explains. “I had hopes of attending UW-Green Bay for Criminal Justice after graduating from FVTC because it seemed like the right fit, but at that time, there wasn’t a great route set up to accomplish that. Now, this has given me everything I wanted for planning my education path after FVTC.”

UW–Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander praised the partnership and Divinia’s story as a model for student success.

“Divinia’s story is exactly why these transfer pathways matter,” said UW–Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander. “She begins with a high-quality, affordable education at Fox Valley Tech, seamlessly transfers to UW–Green Bay to earn her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, and enters law school without debt that would prohibit her from continuing her education or her career. This is the kind of cost-effective, student-centered approach that sets our graduates up for long-term success in the workforce.”

These new agreements underscore both institutions’ commitment to creating accessible, affordable, and career-aligned educational opportunities for students across Northeast Wisconsin.

Written by Kristin Bouchard

Photos courtesy of Fox Valley Technical College.

Link to original story: https://news.uwgb.edu/phlash/news/10/28/new-transfer-agreements-between-fvtc-and-uw-green-bay-empower-students-to-pursue-criminal-justice-and-business-careers/

In celebration of National Transfer Student Week, Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) and the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay have announced two new transfer agreements that create affordable, streamlined pathways for students pursuing careers in Criminal Justice and Business.
